150,000 People Will Die Today...
The season has come when many magazines and award shows give farewell to the celebrities that we’ve lost during the last year. Like many of you, I read about their accomplishments and impact with great intrigue. This year, many great talents passed away, all for many different reasons. In the end, only their hard work and generosity should be remembered - not the way in which they succumbed.
This got me thinking about how many people die every day. So, I went to Google, did a little research, and found out that approximately 150,000 people die each and every day. Although you may not be directly affected by the loss of any of these people; someone, somewhere lost someone they loved deeply. The number of families that are ruined by the passing of each of one of these people is truly astronomical.
It doesn’t matter what the color of their skin was or the money they made, these people made a valuable difference on the lives of many. I hope that each of these souls had people they loved with a passion and were loved in return. I have learned that having family - blood or not - is life’s only truly priceless gift. Love acts as our armor that helps us when we are too weak to take another step; our water when we are parched; our sleep when we are fatigued.
Tonight, before you close your eyes and go to sleep, say a prayer for the families who are broken - all 150,000 of them. Tomorrow, another large group will receive the same bad news. In fact, it escapes none of us. We all will experience the gut wrenching feeling of someone dear to our hearts being ripped from us, leaving us empty and lost. Pray for us all! Don’t you think we need it? I do.
Have a great week. Hope all of you are safe. My thoughts are with those of you in Sydney, Australia. Let’s talk again tomorrow, I will bring the coffee. -Ruth
